Clutch, the bluesy, ballsy hard rock band from Germantown, Maryland, have been referred to as the "sonic cousins" of Korn and the Deftones. Although past albums like 1993's Transnational Speedway League: Anthems, Anecdotes, And Undeniable Truths were far more angry and metallic than the funky, full-on rock-a-rolla that's displayed on their latest disc, From Beale Street To Oblivion, the nu metal label should never have been applied to the group."I think maybe it's some lazy rock journalism," says singer Neil Fallon. "We've played with some of those bands, so maybe they drew that association.
MITM Notes: I saw Clutch open up for Marilyn Manson around 1994. They had a bunch of cardboard cut-outs of Star Wars figures.... stormtroopers, Darth Vader, etc.
